Day 50 - the Spirit empowers us to boldly make disciples
In your own words ask God to help you hear and understand what He’s saying through His Word, and give thanks for the Holy Spirit that is empowering you to walk with Him after this devotional is done. Then read these verses (out loud if you are able).
Revelation 22:17, 20-21 (NLT)
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life. 20 He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! 21 May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people.
Here are some of Jesus’ words as they are found in the last chapter of the Bible. I love the invitation for anyone to drink freely from the water of life. Jesus is making this invitation through us, and this is a great picture of what living as those who belong to Jesus should look like. Together with the Holy Spirit we are making the invitation of Jesus known to all. The Spirit and we say, “come!”
Come and find the true and abundant life that Jesus offers. Come and drink freely of His life. Each and every thirsty soul is invited to come and drink. We who know what it means to be truly satisfied in this life invite you to come. Run to Jesus. Join us in our knowing and loving Him!
The promise Jesus makes with this invitation is that He is coming soon. The only appropriate response is “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!” Those of us who believe in Jesus need to be reminded of His promise and to allow our souls to respond like this, for this deepest longing set in us all, even what creation is currently groaning for. Jesus come, reveal your glory and bring all things under your rule and reign!
Then these verses end with a declaration of who we are and what Jesus wants for us, an ending appropriate for the finishing of our devotional.
We are a holy people, and Jesus desires for His grace to be with us. There truly is no better way to understand life as we wait for Jesus to return. We who are set apart for God’s purpose rest in His grace. How can we not invite others into such abundant and beautiful life?
How do you need God’s grace today? Bring your burdens and requests to Him with thanksgiving.
How is your soul thirsting and seeking to be satisfied? Turn to Jesus and ask Him to satisfy the desires of your heart and longings of your soul.
Who is God sending you to in order to simply say, “come,” come and receive the life Jesus offers us. Pray of them by name and for boldness to do so.
Close your time of prayer by thanking the Father, Jesus and the Spirit for empowering you to live and walk in God’s life and purpose.
